Glacier Park Landscape/Sub Tuum, Oil Painting
Oil on canvas
31.3 W x 40.6 H x 1.7 D cm
(12.32” x 16” x 0.66”)
This oil painting depicts a bright morning at a lake in Glacier National Park, Montana.
Painted with oil paints on primed canvas and varnished with a professional gloss varnish with UV protection. All four sides of the canvas are also painted so that the painting can decorate your wall even without a frame.
The title "Sub Tuum" is a reference to one of the oldest known Marian prayers, "Sub Tuum Praesidium" ("Beneath Thy Protection"). In Japan, where the painter lives, people often believe that God, or 'kami', inhabits all things, including forces of nature and prominent landscape locations. This mountain overlooking the lake can be viewed as a Goddess in whom we can find protection and peace.
